TORONTO, Oct. 05, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Discovery Mining Ltd. has taken a significant step forward in its efforts to develop the Cordero Project, a large-scale silver deposit in Chihuahua State, Mexico. The company has received the necessary environmental impact assessment (MIA) and Change of Land Use permit from Mexico’s Federal Environmental Department (SEMARNAT). These permits complete the federal environmental permitting process and pave the way for the project to move towards development.

Tony Makuch, Discovery’s President, CEO, and Chairman, expressed gratitude to the Mexican regulators and authorities for their trust in the company. He highlighted that Cordero is a large-scale silver project that will produce critical metals the world needs, with minimal environmental impact. The project is expected to improve water resource usage in the region and generate substantial socio-economic benefits for Mexico. Makuch emphasized that the project will create thousands of jobs, provide extensive training and multi-generational skills development, and deliver significant economic contributions to the region and the country.

Discovery Mining Ltd. is a growing precious metals company with a focus on creating value for stakeholders through exposure to gold, silver, and other critical minerals. The Cordero project, located close to infrastructure in a prolific mining belt, is one of the world’s largest undeveloped silver deposits. The company’s silver exposure mainly comes from the 100%-owned Cordero project. In Canada, Discovery is advancing plans to more than double annual gold production through investment in its Porcupine assets, which include multiple operations, attractive growth projects, and significant exploration upside in one of the world’s most renowned gold camps near Timmins, Ontario.

The acquisition of the Kidd Operations in June 2026 further increased Discovery’s land position within the camp, providing valuable infrastructure that will support the company’s growing gold business and adding critical minerals to its current production profile. The company continues to pursue a balanced approach to growth, focusing on sustainable development and economic contributions to the regions where it operates.

Discovery Mining Ltd. remains committed to advancing the Cordero Project and contributing positively to the communities and economies in which it operates. The receipt of these permits marks an important milestone in the project’s development and underscores the company’s dedication to responsible mining practices.
