Lehi, Utah, Nov. 01, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Utah, November 1, 2026, DigiCert, a global leader in intelligent trust, has been selected by the National Energy Public Key Infrastructure (NEPKI) to secure Australia’s growing energy network. The initial deployment will enable rooftop solar and battery systems to communicate securely with electricity distribution networks across the country.

The National Energy PKI was established as a not-for-profit to provide a consistent national framework for digital identity in the energy sector. This first use case creates a common way for energy devices, manufacturers, distribution network operators, energy retailers, and technology providers to authenticate and communicate securely within the ecosystem. Since launch, 44 solar and battery manufacturers have been onboarded and account for approximately 94% of the Australian market.

The initial deployment will help devices and network operators verify each other’s identities and protect the data and emergency control commands they exchange. More than 4.2 million Australian homes have rooftop solar, and the growing adoption of home batteries, smart inverters, and electric vehicle chargers is making households increasingly important to Australia's energy system. As more devices connect and communicate with the grid, securing these connections is critical to maintaining grid stability and protecting Australia's energy infrastructure and consumers.

DigiCert is a global leader in intelligent trust, protecting the digital world by ensuring the security, privacy, and authenticity of every interaction. The company’s AI-powered DigiCert ONE platform unifies PKI, DNS, and certificate lifecycle management to secure infrastructure, software, devices, messages, and AI content, agents, and models. More than 125,000 organizations, including 90% of the Fortune 500, choose DigiCert to stop today's threats and prepare for a quantum-safe future.

Since its establishment, the National Energy PKI has been working to strengthen cybersecurity, interoperability, and national consistency as Australia transitions towards a more decentralized energy system at least cost to energy consumers. The partnership with DigiCert is a significant step towards achieving these goals, ensuring that the energy sector remains secure and resilient in the face of increasing digital connectivity.
