LOS ALTOS, Calif., Oct. 08, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Descope, a developer-friendly customer and agentic identity platform, has been named "Multifactor Solution of the Year" in the 10th annual CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards program. This recognition highlights Descope's innovative approach to multifactor authentication (MFA), which is a critical component of modern cybersecurity strategies.
According to Descope's 2025 State of Customer Identity report, a survey of more than 400 identity and access management (IAM) decision-makers revealed that while 94% of organizations offer some form of customer MFA, only 10% implement it across all applications. This disparity underscores the ongoing challenge organizations face in balancing security and user experience. High-friction MFA can enhance security but may lead to user drop-offs, while insufficient MFA can leave systems vulnerable to cyberattacks.
Descope offers a comprehensive suite of MFA methods, including phishing-resistant passkeys and magic links, authenticator apps, and one-time passwords. Adaptive MFA helps organizations create conditional journeys that determine when a login needs a second authentication factor. It leverages native risk signals such as trusted devices, VPN detection, impossible travel, and bot scores, along with connectors to fraud providers like Forter, reCAPTCHA Enterprise, and Arkose Labs. Teams can also implement step-up authentication before sensitive actions like changing account details or making a payment. All of these controls are built in Descope's visual workflow editor, enabling teams to implement and modify MFA without writing custom authentication code.
Organizations can also add Descope MFA as an augmentation to their existing customer identity and access management (CIAM) systems. Notable customers using Descope for MFA include Branch Insurance, which reduced authentication-related support tickets by 50% after deploying Descope passkeys, and Navan, which augmented its incumbent CIAM with phishing-resistant magic link MFA from Descope.
Descope's MFA controls also extend to AI agents acting on a user's behalf. The platform supports step-up authentication based on Client-Initiated Backchannel Authentication (CIBA), allowing an agent to request the user's approval on a separate device before completing a sensitive action.
More than 1,000 organizations use Descope, including GoFundMe, GoodRx, Databricks, and Collectors. Descope has also been named a SINET16 Innovator in 2025, and included in Fortune Cyber 60 in 2024 and 2025, Rising in Cyber in 2026, and Redpoint's InfraRed 100 list in 2025.
