Derek Smith Law Group Files Discrimination Suit Against Supremo Foods Markets

NEWARK, N.J. – Derek Smith Law Group, an employment litigation firm based in New Jersey, has filed a civil lawsuit in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex County, on behalf of three plaintiffs. The lawsuit, filed on July 10, 2026, is part of a broader legal action brought under the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination.

Zuleyma Ballesteros, Kimberly Serna-Gonzalez, and Brenda Romo Duarte are the plaintiffs in the case. They are suing Gustavo Lorenzo-Borges, individually, and Supremo Foods Markets Incorporated, Supremo Foods, LLC, Supremo Foodmarkets, LLC, and Elizabeth Foods, LLC. Johnmack Cohen, Esq., of Derek Smith Law Group, has been designated as the trial counsel for the plaintiffs, and they have demanded a trial by jury.

The complaint filed outlines allegations of discrimination and harassment, but the defendants have not yet responded, and no determination of liability has been made. The case, Docket No. ESX-L-005553-26, is set to proceed through the Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division, Essex County.
