Defence Therapeutics Inc, a biotechnology company developing next-generation precision oncology therapeutics, has outlined its strategic priorities for the coming year, highlighting recent progress and setting a clear path forward.
In a letter to shareholders, Dr. Amie Phinney, President and CEO of Defence Therapeutics, detailed the company's focus on advancing its Accum® drug-delivery technology. Since her appointment in August 2026, Dr. Phinney has been working to deepen her understanding of the science and strategic direction of the company. This work has reaffirmed her belief in the potential of Accum® to enhance a broad range of oncology therapeutics.
The company has recently strengthened its financial position through a successful capital raise, which has provided the resources needed to accelerate its development plans. Over the past several months, Defence Therapeutics has strengthened its leadership team, expanded its Board of Directors, and made key scientific hires. These moves have equipped the company with the necessary capabilities to pursue its strategic objectives.
Defence Therapeutics is now focusing on three core areas. First, the company aims to establish Accum® as an enhancing technology for antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). ADCs have become one of the most important and rapidly evolving therapeutic modalities in oncology. Defence Therapeutics believes that Accum® can improve intracellular delivery and enhance ADC activity, potentially allowing for greater anti-tumour activity at lower doses. The company plans to engage with ADC developers to evaluate Accum®'s potential and establish partnerships to advance this strategy.
Second, Defence Therapeutics is advancing its Accum®-enabled radiotherapeutics program. The company has appointed Dr. Ryan Simms as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Radiotherapeutics, bringing with him over 20 years of radiopharmaceutical development experience. The focus will be on generating data to identify where Accum® can provide the greatest potential benefit and advancing the most promising Accum®-enabled radiotherapeutics toward clinical development.
Lastly, the company is reassessing its AccuTOX® program, a clinical-stage asset. AccuTOX® was paused last year as the company reassessed its development priorities. The current focus is to determine the best path forward for this asset, which could include monetizing it through an out-licensing transaction, advancing it with a co-development partner, or reactivating it as an internal clinical program if supported by the data and economics. This decision will be made with the goal of maximizing value for shareholders without detracting from the core investment in Accum®.
Over the next twelve months, Defence Therapeutics plans to identify new ADC collaborations to evaluate Accum®'s potential, advance its Accum®-enabled radiotherapeutics strategy by generating foundational data, and communicate the path forward for AccuTOX®. Dr. Phinney emphasized the importance of demonstrating progress against these objectives and ensuring that the choices made contribute to long-term value for shareholders.
