TOKYO, JAPAN, September 29, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- DeCarbon Tokyo 2026, a major conference set to take place from December 1 to 3, 2026, in Tokyo, is poised to bring together 400+ decision-makers from Japan and international markets. The event, organized by the Centre for Management Technology (CMT), aims to connect industrial decarbonization, evolving carbon markets, and the rapidly developing carbon-removal economy.

The conference will be structured around three key themes: REDUCE, REGULATE, and REMOVE. Day 1, focusing on REDUCE, will cover topics such as industrial decarbonization, energy transition, and carbon management. Dedicated afternoon tracks will explore industrial carbon management, including carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCS), as well as the decarbonization of data centers and low-carbon energy solutions.

Day 2, dedicated to REGULATE, will delve into carbon markets, compliance, and procurement. This day will connect Japan's Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading System (GX-ETS) with carbon pricing, Joint Crediting Mechanisms (JCM), and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. It will also address voluntary and compliance markets, corporate climate standards, and the question of who should bear the cost of the green premium.

The final day, Day 3, will center on REMOVE, focusing on carbon removals, nature-based solutions, and procurement pathways. Dedicated tracks will examine nature-based carbon solutions and durable carbon removal technologies, including biochar, bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS), direct air capture, enhanced rock weathering, and marine carbon dioxide removal (CDR). The conference will also explore procurement, integrity, monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV), and the financial and commercial scale of these technologies.

Confirmed contributors to the conference include a diverse array of organizations such as Tokyo Gas, Japan Iron and Steel Federation, INPEX, Nippon Paper Industries, Tokio Marine & Nichido, Relae (formerly Carbon Direct), The Nature Conservancy, Verra, Cascade Climate, CDR.fyi, Wallenius Wilhelmsen, and the Carbon Business Council. The event is supported by Carbon Removal Partners as the Carbon Markets Development Partner, SMBC as the GX Transition & Finance Partner, Carbon Direct as the Strategy Partner, and Sylvera as the Carbon Market Intelligence Partner.

A key new initiative for 2026 is the Corporate Carbon Strategy Primer Forum, which will be held on December 2. This closed-door program, co-organized with the Japan CDR Coalition, is designed to build practical understanding of carbon credits and removals among Japanese companies. The forum will cover procurement strategy, due diligence, MRV, contracting, and different procurement models.
