DataMEDS AI Acquires Helomics for Oncology Expansion

DataMEDS AI, Inc. has completed the acquisition of Helomics Corporation, a leading artificial intelligence (AI) cancer diagnostics lab and precision oncology contract research organization (CRO) business, from Axe Compute Inc. The deal, which closed on September 15, 2026, is expected to significantly enhance DataMEDS’s capabilities in the oncology sector, positioning the company to better serve patients and expand its services.

According to Gerald Commissiong, Interim Co-CEO of DataMEDS, the acquisition is a strategic move that aligns with the company’s broader mission to improve patient outcomes, particularly in rural areas.

Under the terms of the agreement, DataMEDS acquired Helomics' CLIA/CAP-certified clinical laboratory, along with the Predictive Oncology CRO central lab services business and $1.5 million in cash. The transaction came with no third-party debt or outstanding accounts payable, ensuring a smooth transition for both companies.

Commissiong further elaborated on the plans for Helomics moving forward.

For Axe Compute Inc., the exit from the cancer testing business is part of its strategy to focus on scaling its core AI infrastructure business. Chris Miglino, CEO of Axe Compute, expressed satisfaction with the outcome.

Helomics, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a functional precision medicine oncology platform that applies AI to real-world tumor data to support drug discovery and cancer treatment decisions. The company was a part of Axe Compute's former identity as Predictive Oncology Inc., before its name change in December 2025.

The acquisition is expected to bolster DataMEDS's position in the healthcare IT sector, particularly in the areas of oncology and precision medicine. With the integration of Helomics, DataMEDS aims to leverage AI and advanced diagnostics to improve patient care and outcomes.
