Cytonics Corporation, a clinical-stage biotechnology company based in Jupiter, Florida, has successfully completed a $4.8 million gross-proceeds financing campaign, adding approximately 900 new investors to its shareholder base. With the completion of this round, Cytonics now boasts a total of approximately 8,000 investors on its capitalization table and has raised a total of $47 million to date, including $27 million through Regulation A and Regulation Crowdfunding offerings.
The latest financing will support the continued development of CYT-108, Cytonics' investigational engineered alpha-2-macroglobulin (A2M) biologic. CYT-108 is designed to inhibit multiple classes of destructive proteases involved in cartilage degradation, a key mechanism in osteoarthritis. Cytonics has completed a first-in-human Phase 1 study and is now advancing the regulatory, manufacturing, and clinical planning required for a Phase 1b/2a study in knee osteoarthritis.
Joey Bose, President and CEO of Cytonics, expressed gratitude to the investors who contributed to the campaign. "Every dollar in this campaign came from people who made a deliberate decision that this science deserves to advance," Bose stated. "Biotechnology is usually financed by a small circle of institutions. We have built Cytonics differently. This financing gives us additional resources to execute the next stage of the program while preserving the independent, shareholder-driven model that brought us here."
The company has received more than $4.32 million in non-binding indications of interest for a potential future financing campaign. Cytonics expects to consider a new campaign in the coming months, after additional regulatory milestones and key efficacy data become available and before the planned Phase 1b/2a study. The timing, structure, terms, and launch of any future offering have not been finalized.
Cytonics Corporation is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing therapies designed to address destructive protease activity implicated in osteoarthritis and other diseases. Its lead program, CYT-108, is an investigational engineered A2M-based biologic designed to inhibit multiple proteases involved in cartilage degradation. Cytonics' A2M platform originated with APIC, its first-generation physician-administered autologous technology for concentrating naturally occurring A2M from a patient's own blood.
Cytonics has been working diligently to advance its innovative therapies. The recent financing round will enable the company to accelerate its development efforts and bring its promising treatments closer to market. Investors in the campaign included both new and existing shareholders, with 35 percent of the pre-raise shareholder base investing again during the round.
As Cytonics moves forward, the company remains committed to its independent, shareholder-driven model. The success of this latest financing round underscores the confidence stakeholders have in Cytonics' scientific approach and its potential to make a significant impact in the treatment of osteoarthritis and other protease-driven diseases.
