CordenPharma, a leading provider of sterile injectable manufacturing services, has significantly boosted its aseptic fill-finish capacity, increasing its total production capability to 500 million sterile injectable units per year. The company’s expansion, which includes a substantial €80 million investment over several years, is part of its ongoing commitment to support the growing demand for specialized injectable drug products.

CordenPharma recently completed the acquisition of a new 11,000 square meters commercial building and 26,000 square meters of land, adjacent to its existing late-stage aseptic fill & finish manufacturing area. This expansion, finalized on July 28, 2026, nearly doubles the company’s site footprint and provides a blank canvas for innovators seeking fit-for-purpose aseptic fill & finish capabilities. The new facility is designed to accommodate a minimum of four aseptic fill & finish lines, four visual inspection lines, and four additional packaging lines. It can also support large-scale lyophilization and auto-injector assembly, offering customers a wide range of manufacturing options.

In addition to the new facility, CordenPharma has also embarked on strategic expansions at its existing operational area within the Caponago site. Over the past two years, the company has added two new aseptic fill & finish isolator lines. The first line is a clinical and small-scale commercial combo line from Bausch & Ströbel, capable of producing pre-filled syringes (PFS), vials, and cartridges. The second line, from Syntegon, is a high-speed PFS & cartridge line capable of producing more than 500,000 units per day. These expansions will help the company meet the increasing demand for sterile injectable outsourcing across various therapeutic areas, including oncology, obesity, diabetes, and inflammatory diseases.

The company’s CEO, Dr. Michael Quirmbach, emphasized the importance of this expansion, stating, "The support of our shareholders, Astorg, underscores our commitment to advancing sterile injectable manufacturing at CordenPharma Caponago. This strategic investment strengthens our leadership in the manufacture of drug products using complex modalities and enhances our end-to-end supply capabilities to meet rising global demand for injectable outsourcing."

CordenPharma’s enhanced capabilities will support a wide range of injectable products, including peptide-based GLP-1 therapeutics, oligonucleotides, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), biosimilars, and other biologics. The company’s customers will benefit from a single-site offering of integrated solutions, from drug substance to drug products, leveraging CordenPharma’s global facility network and expertise in manufacturing peptides, small molecules, customized lipid excipients, LNPs, and sterile injectables.

As part of its long-term injectable CAPEX program, CordenPharma aims to support innovators across their injectable drug lifecycle, from early-phase projects to large-scale commercial production. The company’s expanded capacity will enable it to meet the complex needs of global healthcare industries, ensuring sterility assurance and long-term compliance during sterile injectable manufacturing.

With this significant expansion, CordenPharma is well-positioned to support the growing demand for sterile injectable outsourcing and enhance its leadership in the CDMO space. The company’s investment underscores its proactive approach to addressing the needs of biotech and pharma innovators, enabling them to bring vital drug products to patients more efficiently.
