RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 6, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Contractor Training Center, a premier provider of training and education solutions for contractors, has launched new North Carolina Electrical Contractor Exam Prep programs to help experienced electricians prepare for the state's Limited, Intermediate, and Unlimited contractor licensing exams. The launch comes as North Carolina puts increased focus on the skilled construction workforce needed to support the state's continued growth, with Governor Josh Stein proclaiming October 2026 as Careers in Construction Month.

The North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors offers three primary electrical contractor classifications: Limited, Intermediate, and Unlimited. The Limited classification allows projects up to $60,000, while the Intermediate classification allows projects up to $150,000. The Unlimited classification has no project-value ceiling. Candidates do not have to earn the classifications sequentially; they can apply directly for the classification supported by their documented experience.

All three classifications use a 100-question, six-hour, open-book exam, giving candidates an average of approximately 3.6 minutes per question, including time spent locating information in approved reference materials. "Open book doesn't mean easy," Hayes said.

Contractor Training Center's new programs are built for experienced North Carolina electricians and focus on exam readiness. They help candidates translate what they already know into the exam strategy, reference-navigation skills, calculations, and targeted practice needed to pass. The programs are designed to be flexible, with approximately 18 hours of self-paced online instruction, 365 days of access, and monthly instructor office hours. Course-only preparation starts at $349.

The programs are designed to help candidates prepare for the right exam. Separate Limited, Intermediate, and Unlimited programs align preparation and Exam Simulator practice to each North Carolina license level, not a generic electrical exam. Candidates practice finding and applying information efficiently, working through calculations, and managing their time under exam-style conditions. The programs provide flexibility with real instructor support as needed, allowing candidates to prepare around their schedules.

Approximately 18 hours of self-paced online instruction, 365 days of access, and monthly instructor office hours provide the flexibility needed for candidates to prepare at their own pace. Unlimited attempts on the Exam Simulator allow candidates to apply their knowledge under exam-style conditions. The programs also include required reference books and professionally tabbed and highlighted materials designed for faster navigation within exam rules.

With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, Contractor Training Center has helped thousands of contractors achieve their professional goals through comprehensive and specialized training programs. The company's new Electrical Exam Prep programs are part of its ongoing commitment to support the growth and development of the construction industry in North Carolina.
