Constantine Gonticas Joins SEDA as Managing Director in Private Equity and Investment Banking

Gonticas brings a wealth of experience in private equity, investment banking, and corporate governance, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe.

Gonticas joins SEDA from his role as a private equity investor through his own company, Green Square Capital. He has also held senior positions at Blackstone, Novator Partners, Merrill Lynch, and Credit Suisse First Boston. His career spans nearly four decades, with a significant portion of it dedicated to Central and Eastern Europe, where he was among the first finance professionals to become active in the early 1990s.

At Novator Partners, Gonticas was Managing Partner and played a key role in sourcing investments in the region, including PLAY, Netia, and Forthnet. He also contributed to the creation of PLAY, Poland’s leading mobile telephony company. Prior to Novator, Gonticas served as Head of EEMEA Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch, where he was responsible for investment banking across Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Before joining Merrill Lynch, he spent 12 years at Credit Suisse First Boston in investment banking.

Gonticas has held board positions across Europe, including his current role as Chairman of DIMAND S.A., a company listed on the Athens Stock Exchange. He has also been a Director of Millwall Holdings Plc since 2005, and previously served as Vice Chairman of PLAY, Netia, and Forthnet.

While at Novator, he sourced a number of investments in the region, including PLAY, Netia, and Forthnet. He also played a key role in the creation of PLAY, Poland’s leading mobile telephony company.

Prior to Novator, Gonticas served as Head of EEMEA Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch, with responsibility for investment banking across Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Before joining Merrill Lynch, he spent 12 years at Credit Suisse First Boston in investment banking. His experience includes serving on the boards of listed and private companies across Europe, with a particular focus on governance and supervision.
