Co-Diagnostics expands Vector Smart platform to USAF base overseas

Co-Diagnostics, a molecular diagnostics company based in Salt Lake City, has achieved a significant milestone with the deployment of its Vector Smart® mosquito surveillance platform to an overseas United States Air Force (USAF) base. This marks the first international expansion of the Vector Smart product line, highlighting the growing demand for advanced mosquito surveillance solutions.
"This is a crucial step in expanding our reach and addressing the global public health challenges posed by mosquito-borne diseases," said Dwight Egan, Chief Executive Officer of Co-Diagnostics. "Vector Smart continues to prove its versatility and effectiveness, providing public health officials with the timely and actionable data needed to combat these threats."
The deployment includes shipments of laboratory equipment, consumables, and other mosquito abatement reagents and materials. Co-Diagnostics’ Vector Smart products consist of multiplex PCR assays designed to detect pathogens associated with diseases such as West Nile virus, Eastern and Western equine encephalitis, St. Louis encephalitis, Zika, dengue, and chikungunya. These assays are specifically tailored to enhance situational awareness and improve the efficiency of abatement efforts.
While the Vector Smart platform has already served 40 customers across 21 U.S. states, this international expansion into the USAF base represents a significant breakthrough for Co-Diagnostics. Egan emphasized that the company is well-positioned to expand into additional government, military, and public health markets, with Vector Smart potentially becoming a key contributor to the company’s long-term commercialization strategy.
"The Vector Smart platform offers a unique solution by providing rapid, localized surveillance capabilities that are essential for public health officials," Egan explained. "We are excited to see this technology making a difference on a global scale."
Co-Diagnostics, founded in Utah, specializes in developing and manufacturing advanced diagnostics technologies. Its proprietary platform is used to design specific tests for its Co-Dx PCR at-home and point-of-care platform, as well as identifying genetic markers for various applications.
The company’s forward-looking statements indicate that Vector Smart's deployment to the USAF base is just the beginning. Egan stated, "As we continue to grow and expand, Vector Smart is poised to become a critical tool in the fight against mosquito-borne diseases."
However, the company also acknowledges the risks associated with the performance, reliability, and market acceptance of its technology, as well as the potential impacts of competition, technological change, and intellectual property protection. These risks are detailed in the company’s filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
