CND Life Sciences, a medical technology company that advances neurodiagnostics and associated biomarker solutions, has opened a new Innovation Laboratory in Scottsdale, Arizona. The laboratory, which complements the company’s existing infrastructure, will support the development of new products and research initiatives aimed at advancing neurodiagnostics.
The new Innovation Laboratory will provide dedicated space for assay development, biomarker research, technology evaluation, and translational research programs. This expansion is part of CND's long-term growth strategy, as it aims to better serve clinicians, patients, researchers, and partners.
According to Todd Levine, MD, CND's Chief Medical Officer and Co-Founder, the opening of the Innovation Laboratory is a significant milestone for the company.
The Innovation Laboratory is located near CND's headquarters and central laboratory operations in Scottsdale, enabling close collaboration among the company's scientific, product development, operational, and leadership teams. This proximity will facilitate the access to the talent and infrastructure needed to support CND's next phase of growth.
Christopher Gibbons, MD, CND's Chief Scientific Officer and Co-Founder, emphasized the importance of the new laboratory in advancing the future of precision neurodiagnostics.
The new laboratory will begin operations next week, marking the next step in CND's commitment to advancing neurodiagnostics and associated biomarker solutions. The company's Syn-One Test® has been used by more than 3,500 clinicians to evaluate over 70,000 patients. The test uses proprietary techniques to detect phosphorylated alpha-synuclein in cutaneous nerves while also measuring other signs of peripheral nerve degeneration.
In a prospective, multicenter NIH-sponsored study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) in 2024, phosphorylated alpha-synuclein was demonstrated in 95.5% of participants clinically diagnosed with a synucleinopathy.1 This study, which was published in JAMA, further underscores CND's commitment to advancing the field of neurodiagnostics.
The opening of the Innovation Laboratory is part of CND's ongoing efforts to support the care of patients facing the potential diagnosis of a neurodegenerative disease. The company continues to collaborate with biopharmaceutical companies on clinical trials for investigational therapies and is conducting studies on early disease detection and synuclein quantification.
