OSCEOLA, Iowa, Sep 29, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Clarke County Reservoir Commission and the Clarke County Development Corporation (CCDC) have reached a significant milestone in securing a sustainable water supply for South-Central Iowa with the official approval of the Clarke County Water Supply Project Watershed Plan-Environmental Impact Statement (Plan-EIS) by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).
After years of planning, collaboration, and persistence, the Clarke County Reservoir Commission (CCRC) has achieved a major benchmark in their efforts to provide a reliable water supply for Osceola, Clarke County, and the surrounding service area of SIRWA. The CCRC, led by Project Coordinator Dave Beck, expressed their excitement at the approval of the Plan-EIS, which has been a long-time goal for the project.
Dr. Scott Cagle, Assistant State Conservationist for Partnerships with USDA's NRCS, informed the CCRC that the Plan-EIS has been officially approved and signed by NRCS Acting Associate Chief Scott Edwards, on behalf of Chief Colton Buckley. This approval marks a significant step forward for the project, which has been a long journey for the individuals and organizations committed to its success.
The CCRC now has the green light to secure federal funding to cover 100% of the project's design and permitting phase. This approval moves the project closer to becoming a reality, and the CCRC anticipates accepting construction bids as soon as 2028. The CCRC, in partnership with NRCS, looks forward to continuing their work toward a reliable, long-term water supply that will benefit Osceola, Clarke County, and the surrounding region for generations to come.
This approval represents a major breakthrough after years of hard work and perseverance. The CCRC's commitment to their mission has kept the project moving forward through the lengthy process. The Clarke County Reservoir Commission is proud to celebrate this milestone and is ready to continue their efforts toward a sustainable water supply.
