Cipher Digital, Fluidstack, Anthropic Commit $10 Million to Colorado City Water System

COLORADO CITY, Texas, Sept. 14, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Cipher Digital Inc, Fluidstack Ltd, and Anthropic have committed a combined $10 million to repair and expand Colorado City's water system, addressing chronic shortages and infrastructure issues that have plagued the city. The contribution will fund upgrades identified by Colorado City leaders, including additional water storage capacity and the replacement of aging valves, to increase the availability and resilience of the city's water supply.
The companies will manage the funds through the formation of the Colorado City Water Infrastructure Foundation, a newly established nonprofit organization. The Foundation will work in coordination with the Colorado City Council, led by Mayor Ruben Hurt, and City Manager Donna Madrid, alongside the city's contracted engineers. The Barber Lake data center, operated by Cipher Digital, will not draw from the city's water system, ensuring that every gallon of capacity added goes directly to the city.
Cipher Digital Inc's CEO, Tyler Page, emphasized the company's commitment to investing in the long-term future of Colorado City.
Kate Franko, Public Affairs Lead for Fluidstack, highlighted the company's commitment to local partnership. "This summer, our neighbors here had a problem. We asked if we could help, and we're glad the answer was yes," she said.
Ryan Wilson, Head of Economic Development for Anthropic, added, "Communities that host AI infrastructure should be better off for it. Colorado City's leaders identified what their water system needs, and we're glad to help fund it."
The project is part of a broader effort to address the city's water challenges. In July, storm damage at the city's well pump station left residents without reliable water for days. The investment is expected to improve the reliability and resilience of the city's water system, benefiting the community and supporting future growth.
The Foundation will oversee the implementation of the projects, ensuring that the funds are used effectively to address the identified needs. The companies' contribution is seen as a significant step towards improving the quality of life for Colorado City residents and supporting the city's ongoing development.
