Church of Scientology Partners with MPD to Combat Domestic Violence

WASHINGTON, DC, September 10, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- The Washington, DC, Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and the Church of Scientology National Affairs Office have partnered to launch a collaborative initiative aimed at addressing the rise in domestic violence in the city. The event, titled "Cops and Clergy," was held at the Church of Scientology National Affairs Office and featured a range of presentations and discussions designed to enhance awareness and provide resources for those affected by domestic violence.

Chief Jeffrey W. Carroll of the MPD Interim Police Force kicked off the gathering with remarks highlighting the urgency of the domestic violence issue. He emphasized the importance of a comprehensive approach involving not only law enforcement but also community leaders and clergy.

Officer Randy Rogers, the MPD's Third District Cops and Clergy Liaison Officer, presented on the role of law enforcement in identifying and responding to domestic violence cases. A DC pastor shared his personal story, drawing attention to the human impact of domestic violence and the importance of early intervention. A statistician from the DC Sentencing Commission provided insights into the latest data on domestic violence in the city.

The evening also included presentations from various organizations, including the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants, the Magi Group, and The Magi Group, LLC. These presentations focused on the resources available to survivors of domestic violence and the steps that clergy and community members can take to help.

Attendees were encouraged to visit resource tables and learn more about the tools and support available. Representatives from organizations such as Court Services and Offenders Supervision Agency, DC Sentencing Commission, Foundation for a Drug-Free World, Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse, and My Sister's Place DC were on hand to provide information and guidance.

Rev. Susan Taylor, Public Affairs Director of the Church of Scientology National Affairs Office, expressed her organization's commitment to the partnership.
