PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 02, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Century Therapeutics announced significant advancements in its CNTY-813 therapy, an iPSC-derived islet replacement treatment for type 1 diabetes. The company presented nonclinical data at the 62nd Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) in Milan, Italy, highlighting the continued progress toward clinical dosing.

The data demonstrated that CNTY-813 can maintain glycemic control in diabetic mouse models until the graft is removed. Specifically, the therapy rapidly restored normoglycemia in streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice and maintained this control until the graft was removed, lasting over eleven months. All diabetic mice treated with CNTY-813 achieved normoglycemia, and the islets showed similar glucose-stimulated insulin secretion potency to primary islets.

Century Therapeutics is also on track to submit an Investigational New Drug (IND) application for CNTY-813 in the fourth quarter of 2026. The company has successfully produced consistent clinical-scale batches of the product across five runs, with each batch exceeding purity criteria. Additionally, the therapy remained functional after 96 hours of cold storage, supporting its readiness for clinical supply chain logistics.

Central European Summer Time in Paris Hall, Century highlighted the successful engraftment of CNTY-813 islets via the intended clinical route of administration. In rats, the islets were identified in the liver one month post-transplant, and they stained positive for chromogranin A and insulin, confirming their islet endocrine and beta cell identity.

The presentation also underscored the scalability of the production process. Century demonstrated that the drug product was consistent across five clinical-scale runs, indicating a robust manufacturing process. Furthermore, the therapy maintained its function after extended cold storage, a critical aspect for ensuring the product's stability during transportation and storage.

Grant Welstead, Ph.D., Senior Vice President, Head of Research at Century, delivered the presentation.

Century Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: IPSC), a biotechnology company advancing a pipeline of iPSC-derived cell therapies with the potential to meaningfully address autoimmune diseases, including type 1 diabetes, and cancer, continues to make significant strides in its research and development. The company's approach to developing off-the-shelf cell therapies is designed to expand patient access and provide advantages over existing cell therapies.

The company's commitment to advancing its therapies is underscored by the consistent production of high-quality clinical-scale batches and the successful engraftment of islets in animal models. These advancements bring CNTY-813 closer to clinical trials and potential therapeutic applications for patients with type 1 diabetes.
