MONTREAL and MIAMI, Oct. 1, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- CellCarta and Imagene AI have expanded their collaboration to support the development of AI-powered biomarker and companion diagnostic programs for the pharmaceutical industry. The partnership combines Imagene AI's advanced AI-powered assay development and biomarker prediction capabilities with CellCarta's global companion diagnostics (CDx) and laboratory infrastructure, aiming to streamline the process from biomarker strategy and assay development to clinical trial execution and regulatory readiness.

The companies are currently working on programs with two leading global pharmaceutical companies. One program involves the development of an AI-powered immunohistochemistry (IHC) companion diagnostic, while the other applies Imagene AI's Lung Prediction Panel in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). These initiatives are part of a broader effort to integrate AI technologies into drug development, enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of biomarker identification and diagnostic tools.

Imagene AI's OI CDx capabilities leverage quantitative AI pathology to assess biomarker and target expression, including cell and subcellular analysis, continuous and spatial scoring, and patient stratification. This approach is designed to provide a more precise and comprehensive understanding of disease states, enabling better patient stratification and personalized treatment strategies. CellCarta, on the other hand, offers a range of services to validate, deploy, and scale these AI-powered approaches, ensuring that the assays meet the rigorous standards required for clinical development and commercialization.

The collaboration also extends to Imagene AI's Multi-gene Lung Prediction Panel, which predicts key NSCLC biomarkers directly from routine hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) whole-slide images within minutes. This panel represents a practical application of AI in biomarker-driven clinical trials, combining rapid H&E-based patient identification with the laboratory and clinical-trial infrastructure required for broader deployment.

The expanded collaboration builds on Imagene AI's participation in CellCarta's Digital Pathology and AI Consortium, which was announced in July 2026. This partnership extends the companies' relationship into active biopharma development programs, leveraging the strengths of both organizations to accelerate the development and deployment of AI-powered diagnostic tools.
