CB&I Completes First-Of-Its-Kind All-Steel LNG Tanks in Philippines

THE WOODLANDS, Texas, Sept. 13, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- CB&I and its client AG&P Industrial have achieved a significant milestone with the successful completion and commissioning of two 60,000m³ full containment liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tanks at the LNGPH Ilijan LNG Facility in the Philippines. This project marks the first large-scale onshore LNG storage facility in the country and showcases CB&I's innovative all-steel full containment LNG tank technology.

The tanks, which use 9% nickel steel for both the inner and outer tanks, have been deployed under CB&I's agreement with AG&P Industrial. Unlike conventional full containment LNG tanks that rely on reinforced concrete outer walls, this design ensures compliance with LNG industry technical and safety standards. The project's successful commissioning of Tank 1, which was the world's first in-service full containment all-steel LNG tank, and the subsequent successful performance testing of Tank 2, now fully operational, have demonstrated the technology's enhanced economic benefits, faster construction schedules, and safety advantages.

CB&I completed the construction of the tanks with zero lost-time incidents over more than one million work hours, underscoring the project's strong safety performance.
