PITTSBURGH, Sept. 22, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- OpenAssets, a company building infrastructure for digital financial systems, has partnered with Carnegie Mellon University to develop tokenization infrastructure for institutional markets. Over the summer, students from Carnegie Mellon worked alongside OpenAssets engineers to build systems supporting tokenized markets, including tokenization systems, compliance tools, and interoperability features.

The collaboration aimed to provide students with hands-on experience in developing real-world financial systems. The students contributed to the development, testing, and debugging of these systems, as well as technical documentation and reviews. This experience allowed them to gain insight into the technical challenges involved in bringing real-world assets on-chain and operating tokenized markets at an institutional scale.

Gabor Gurbacs, CEO of OpenAssets, emphasized the importance of this partnership.

Sean McGowan, Director of Employer Relations at Carnegie Mellon University, highlighted the value of such programs for students.

OpenAssets' network includes leading institutions such as ICE, Tether, Fanatics, Itaú, Mysten Labs, KraneShares, and Chainlink. The partnership with Carnegie Mellon University strengthens OpenAssets' connection to Pittsburgh's engineering ecosystem, leveraging the city's reputation for producing top-tier technical talent.

The summer program not only provided students with practical experience but also helped OpenAssets build systems for regulated financial institutions. This collaboration is part of a broader effort by OpenAssets to develop and contribute open standards for tokenization in collaboration with the Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust.

As the program concludes, OpenAssets plans to explore deeper engagement with Carnegie Mellon students and the Pittsburgh engineering community. The company sees this partnership as a step towards modernizing capital markets infrastructure and fostering innovation in the field of tokenized finance.
