On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, Camden National Bank, the largest publicly traded bank holding company in Northern New England, organized its annual Community Well-being Day. More than 560 of its employees took a break from their daily roles to volunteer at 62 local nonprofit organizations across Maine and New Hampshire.
The bank closed its offices and banking centers at noon to provide employees with dedicated time to support community causes. This year marked the second time Camden National Bank had closed its operations for a full afternoon of volunteerism. Renée Smyth, Executive Vice President and Chief Experience & Marketing Officer, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, "Our employees care deeply about the places where they live and work, and Community Well-being Day gives us a powerful way to put that care into action."
One of the volunteer sites was Aldermere Farm and Erickson Fields Preserve, where Camden National Bank's 14 volunteers helped harvest 1,700 pounds of winter squash and prepared 600 bulbs of garlic. Erin Espinosa, the Farm Program Manager, expressed gratitude for the bank's support, noting, "We love having Camden National Bank out to help us. Most of the vegetables we grow are donated to local food pantries, so we have limited resources and labor. We couldn't grow and harvest all of this food without volunteers."
Community Well-being Day was part of Camden National Bank's broader commitment to community service. In addition to this afternoon of service, the bank provides employees with eight hours of paid volunteer time off each year. According to the bank's statistics, employees contribute thousands of hours annually to hundreds of organizations throughout the region.
Camden National Bank's commitment to giving back extends beyond a single day. The company, founded in 1875, operates 72 banking centers in Maine and New Hampshire and offers comprehensive wealth management, investment, and financial planning services through Camden National Wealth Management. The bank is a part of Camden National Corporation, which has $7.0 billion in assets.
The event demonstrated the bank's ongoing dedication to supporting local communities and highlighted the impact that corporate volunteerism can have. By organizing a day of service, Camden National Bank not only provided meaningful assistance to nonprofit organizations but also fostered a culture of giving among its employees.
