Cambodia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) presented the onshore oil and gas concession known as Block VIII at the International Conference on Energy Security in Penang, Malaysia. The conference, which took place from September 8th to 9th, aimed to showcase Cambodia’s potential in developing its new oil and gas sector.

Block VIII, held by EnerCam Resources Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of ANGKOR RESOURCES CORP., covers approximately 4,095 square kilometers in the southwest quadrant of Cambodia. The Ministry highlighted the concession as a prime example of the country’s efforts to secure its own domestic oil and gas supply, which currently imports 100% of its hydrocarbon-based energy products.

EnerCam has already completed 350 line-kilometers of 2D seismic surveys, identifying multiple drill targets across four sub-basins: Bokor South, Bokor Central, Bokor North, and Kirirom. The company is currently in the process of taking its Environmental Impact Assessment through inter-ministerial review. ANGKOR RESOURCES CORP. plans to conduct a 4+1 drill program, which involves one exploration well in each of the four sub-basins, followed by a fifth well based on the results of the initial four.

The company’s mission is to prove Cambodia’s potential as a nation with its own oil and gas resources. ANGKOR RESOURCES CORP. is actively advancing its exploration activities, with a focus on meeting the high priority of discovering a national domestic supply of oil and gas.

According to ANGKOR RESOURCES CORP., the 2D seismic data has identified multiple target zones, and the company is preparing to follow up with drilling Cambodia’s first privately financed onshore exploratory oil and gas wells under a Production Sharing Contract. The drilling contractor tender has been approved by the Ministry, and the company is working closely with the MME to ensure the process is compliant with all regulations.

ANGKOR RESOURCES CORP. continues to provide regular updates on the drill program, drilling contractors, and well-planning progress. The company is committed to transparency and regular communication with stakeholders, ensuring that all developments are communicated in a timely and accurate manner.

Block VIII’s presentation at the International Conference on Energy Security underscores Cambodia’s commitment to developing its oil and gas sector, and ANGKOR RESOURCES CORP.’s active role in this endeavor. The company’s efforts are seen as a significant step towards reducing the country’s reliance on imported energy and enhancing its energy security.
