California American Water launches $8.6 million infrastructure project in Sylvan Park

CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif., Sept. 3, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- California American Water has embarked on a significant $8.6 million infrastructure improvement project in the Sylvan Park neighborhood of Lincoln Oaks, aimed at modernizing critical water systems and enhancing service reliability for approximately 245 customers.

According to Usmita Pokharel, Senior Manager of Project Engineering at California American Water, the initiative underscores the company’s commitment to delivering safe, clean, and reliable water service. "By modernizing our infrastructure, we can better respond to emergencies and ensure consistent service for our community," Pokharel stated.

The project involves replacing aging water mains, which have been located in customer backyards for many years. As these pipes age, they become more prone to leaks, main breaks, and service disruptions. Through the replacement of these mains and their relocation to public streets, the company aims to make maintenance and repair more accessible and efficient.

In addition to the water main replacements, the project will install individual water meters throughout the Sylvan Park neighborhood. This upgrade will provide customers with greater transparency into their water usage, enabling them to make more informed decisions and supporting future water-efficiency initiatives.

Construction activities are currently underway within the Sylvan Park neighborhood, which is generally bounded by Auburn Boulevard, Cotillion Way, Sylvan Middle School, and the Westchester and Grenola areas. The project kicked off in August 2026 and is scheduled to continue through June 2027.

California American Water’s investment in the Lincoln Oaks project aligns with its broader strategy of modernizing aging infrastructure to improve service for customers.
