Calian and SkyFall Partner to Advance Unmanned Systems Training for NATO Allies

Calian and SkyFall, two companies specializing in unmanned systems, have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at advancing drone-enabled defence training and operational readiness for Canada, the United Kingdom, NATO, and allied forces. This collaboration builds on renewed defence cooperation between Ukraine and Canada, as well as the 100-Year Partnership and Joint Declaration on Enhancement of the Defence and Security Cooperation between the two countries.

Calian, a mission-critical solutions company with over four decades of experience in military training, education, and simulation, will work alongside SkyFall, a Ukrainian technology and defence company known for its development and large-scale production of high-performance unmanned systems. The partnership will leverage SkyFall Academy, a training centre certified by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, and Calian’s extensive capabilities in designing and delivering complex training programs for NATO-aligned forces.

Patrick Houston, CEO of Calian, emphasized the importance of keeping training expertise current with the evolving operational environment.

Mykola Makovieiev, Director of SkyFall, highlighted the complementary nature of the partnership.

The partnership will support the international expansion of SkyFall Academy, enabling it to deliver specialized training to military personnel, instructors, and technical specialists in partner countries. For Calian, the collaboration will strengthen its global defence training portfolio by integrating current operational knowledge of unmanned systems into its training, simulation, and mission-readiness solutions.

SkyFall Academy has trained over 30,000 Ukrainian military personnel in the past three years, while Calian has trained more than 300,000 personnel in support of the Canadian Armed Forces, the British Army, NATO, and allied forces over its four-decade history. The combined expertise of the two companies will contribute to closer interoperability between Ukraine, NATO, and allied forces.

Through this strategic partnership, Calian and SkyFall aim to ensure that training programs reflect current operational realities and rapidly evolving unmanned technologies. The collaboration will facilitate a two-way exchange of experience, with SkyFall contributing its technological, operational, and training capabilities, and Calian applying its expertise in designing, integrating, and delivering international military training, simulation, and large-scale readiness programs within NATO-aligned frameworks.
