Bullen Ultrasonics Partners with Project LIFE to Support Interns with Disabilities

EATON, Ohio, Sept. 22, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Bullen Ultrasonics, a leader in precision machining of advanced ceramics and glass, has partnered with Preble County Educational Service Center's Project LIFE to provide hands-on manufacturing experience to young adults with disabilities. This ongoing collaboration aims to build confidence, independence, and employability skills among the interns.

Project LIFE, a comprehensive transition program developed by Butler Tech, helps students and young adults with disabilities prepare for employment, independent living, and community participation. The program currently serves 11 interns, ages 18 to 21, who have met Ohio's graduation requirements and deferred their diplomas to continue developing practical adult-life and employability skills.

At Bullen Ultrasonics, interns participate in job-site rotations, gaining exposure to a professional manufacturing environment. Since the partnership began in fall 2024, interns have supported various workplace tasks, including cleaning conference rooms and break areas, stocking workplace supplies, assisting with facilities tasks, and helping change filters on manufacturing equipment. These tasks provide interns with opportunities to practice workplace communication, teamwork, professionalism, self-advocacy, and responsiveness to feedback.

The program's success is reflected in its outcomes. According to Preble County ESC's Project LIFE outcomes report, 96% of year-one post-assessments showed growth, while 100% of both year-two and year-three post-assessments showed growth. Two of three interns who exited the program in year one are now working, and three of four interns who exited in year two are employed. The program has also helped interns pass temporary driving permit tests and obtain driver's licenses through connected support services.

Bullen Ultrasonics continues to support Project LIFE through job-site rotations and community engagement. The company will host an open house on December 3, where participating companies will host booths, and interns will share presentations about their experiences. The event will also give Bullen an opportunity to connect with community members, highlight its involvement with Project LIFE, and showcase the impact the program is making for interns and their families.
