Paris, France, On October 2, 2026, Bull, a global leader in advanced computing and artificial intelligence, inaugurated its new production building in Angers, marking a significant milestone in the complete reconstruction of its historic industrial site. The €80 million investment represents a substantial expansion of the company’s capabilities, providing a unique industrial facility in Europe capable of designing, integrating, assembling, testing, and validating supercomputers, artificial intelligence infrastructures, enterprise servers, and, in the future, quantum technologies.

The transformation, which is set to be completed by 2028, is driven by a long-term industrial ambition that combines industrial excellence, competitiveness, environmental responsibility, and an enhanced working environment. The new site, designed to address the evolution of next-generation digital infrastructures, incorporates more than 3,500 photovoltaic panels with a combined peak capacity of 1,500 kWp, sourced from renewable energy, and a heat recovery system that captures waste heat produced by equipment, ultimately providing enough energy to supply the equivalent of 600 households.

The new building also features a 20,000 square meter total surface area, with 10,700 square meters dedicated to production, marking a 2x increase in production capacity and a 30% reduction in building maintenance costs. The project has benefited from €1.2 million in funding through the Ecological Transition Acceleration Fund for Local Authorities (Green Fund), an additional €213,000 grant from ADEME through its Heat Fund, and €1.5 million in support from the Pays de la Loire Regional Council.

Bull’s new Angers factory, which is the only industrial site in Europe capable of assembling large-scale supercomputers, has significantly contributed to major projects such as JUPITER, Europe’s first supercomputer capable of one quintillion calculations per second, and three of the world’s most energy-efficient supercomputers according to the Green500 ranking. The Angers factory now houses unique expertise in supercomputers, enterprise servers, and quantum technologies, while accelerating its capabilities in artificial intelligence.

In 2027, the Angers factory will deliver Alice Recoque, the next European exascale supercomputer hosted in France, and LUMI-AI, the system at the heart of the LUMI AI Factory hosted in Finland. The new site also supports Bull’s Open Factory programme, designed to make its industrial capabilities available to companies developing strategic technologies in artificial intelligence, advanced computing, and quantum technologies.

The Angers factory’s new capabilities are set to play a central role in the development of future European AI infrastructures, combining the latest innovations of its 800 R&D engineers with an ecosystem of market-leading partners. In 2027, the Angers factory will deliver Alice Recoque, the next European exascale supercomputer hosted in France, and LUMI-AI, the system at the heart of the LUMI AI Factory hosted in Finland.
