San Mateo, CA, Oct. 20, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- BriteCore, a leading provider of cloud-native, AI-embedded core insurance platforms for property and casualty (P&C) insurers, has released its 2026 BriteCore Annual P&C Core Systems Report. The report, based on a survey of 67 insurance professionals representing regional, mid-market, and enterprise-scale carriers, reveals a growing disconnect between what insurers need from their core technology and what their current systems deliver.
The striking finding is a 38-percentage-point gap in product agility. While 73% of respondents consider the ability to easily introduce new insurance products, lines of business, or geographic regions important, only 35% are satisfied with their current core system's ability to support these objectives. This represents the largest gap between importance and satisfaction identified in the survey.
The report highlights a fundamental shift in how insurers evaluate core technology. Beyond operational reliability, carriers increasingly expect platforms that enable faster innovation, greater flexibility, and the ability to respond quickly to changing market opportunities.
The findings underscore the growing importance of flexible, configurable core platforms that enable insurers to pursue new opportunities without extensive development or customization. The report identifies a 27-point gap for unified end-to-end operations, a 25-point gap for reporting and analytics, and a 23-point gap for cloud-based capabilities. These gaps indicate that insurers are seeking more integrated and flexible systems to support their business needs.
Operational priorities for insurers, according to the report, are dominated by underwriting and claims efficiency. Streamlining underwriting workflows and optimizing claims processing are each selected by 72% of respondents. Improving agent satisfaction and productivity follows at 45%. On the growth front, increasing production from existing agents ranks first at 60%, reflecting a growing emphasis on maximizing the value of established distribution relationships.
In terms of technology investment, data analytics, APIs, and generative AI (Gen AI) are shaping the priorities of insurers. Business intelligence and data analytics lead the technology priorities, followed by integration and API technology (71%) and generative AI (57%). While Gen AI adoption remains in its early stages, insurers are moving toward practical applications, with 20% running pilots and another 10% implementing solutions. The leading areas where insurers are applying or plan to apply Gen AI are underwriting (67%), claims management (65%), and analytics and reporting (63%).
