HOUSTON, Oct. 1, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Boluda Shipping, a leading company in maritime transport services and international freight logistics, has embarked on a significant digital transformation at its Tenerife terminal in the Canary Islands. The company has selected TMEIC's Pulse Mobile digital gate platform to enhance its operations and address the challenges posed by increasing truck volumes, limited space, and the need to improve efficiency and sustainability.
Gonzalo Calero Gómez, CEO of Boluda Maritime Terminals, expressed the company's commitment to innovation and efficiency.
The new operational model, driven by TMEIC's Pulse Mobile, will move key operational activities upstream. This means that issues will be addressed well before trucks reach the gate, resolving up to 80% of issues before they even arrive. This shift is expected to reduce gate cycle times by up to 50% and boost lane availability by up to 98%. These efficiency gains are significant, as they will help to reduce congestion at access points, enable more predictable operational flows, and minimize wasted trips and time spent idling. The reduction in idling time can also help to lower greenhouse gas emissions.
Pulse Mobile facilitates the coordination between Boluda, carriers, and drivers, making the reconfigured truck and terminal process possible. From the moment carriers receive work orders to pick up or deliver a load, Boluda and the trucking community get full visibility, all the way through the validation of operational information, incident management, terminal access, ground operations, and departure. Real-time connectivity enables improved coordination and decision-making, while reducing errors, providing full transaction histories, and eliminating paperwork.
The platform's vendor-agnostic nature allows it to integrate with Boluda's existing terminal operating systems (TOS), port community systems (PCS), and other technology platforms, rather than replacing them or requiring a specific provider. This approach ensures that the new system can coexist with Boluda's current infrastructure without disrupting ongoing operations.
Boluda Shipping operates 11 maritime services connecting the Iberian Peninsula with Northern Europe, the Canary Islands, and the West African coast. The company's fleet of 15 vessels serves 33 ports in 14 countries. In addition to its shipping services, Boluda also provides port logistics services through its subsidiary Boluda Maritime Terminals, operating a total of 9 terminals, 4 in the Iberian Peninsula and 5 in the Canary Islands.
The implementation of Pulse Mobile at Boluda's Tenerife terminal is part of a broader digital transformation strategy aimed at improving operational efficiency and sustainability. The project reflects TMEIC's broader vision for the future of terminals, in which integrated software, automation, and operational intelligence redefine what ports can achieve.
The digital transformation at Boluda's Tenerife terminal is expected to yield significant benefits, including reduced dependence on gate equipment like kiosks and printers. This approach can help Boluda to reduce spending on maintenance and parts by up to 60%. Additionally, it will allow clerks to manage entry processes away from heavy machinery, noise, and the elements, thereby reducing their exposure to exhaust fumes and injury risks.
By implementing TMEIC's Pulse Mobile platform, Boluda Shipping is taking a significant step towards a more efficient, connected, and user-oriented terminal operation. The company's commitment to innovation and sustainability is evident in this project, which is expected to set a new standard for port operations in the region.
