BlackBerry Radar Cuts Inspection Lead Time for DCLI

BlackBerry Radar has expanded its focus to enhance asset intelligence in the transportation sector, according to a recent press release. The technology has helped DCLI, a leading U.S. chassis provider, reduce the lead time for FMCSA inspections by 33%.

DCLI, the largest provider of container chassis to the U.S. intermodal industry, has integrated BlackBerry Radar’s location data with inspection due dates. This integration has streamlined the process for yard and maintenance teams, allowing them to quickly identify and locate units requiring attention. As a result, the advance planning window for FMCSA inspections has been cut from 90 days to 60 days, significantly reducing search time and enabling more proactive inspections.

Shannon Hamilton, SVP and General Manager of BlackBerry Radar, emphasized the importance of combining equipment activity data with business information. Wolfe further noted that this reduction in inspection lead time results in real cost savings for the business by deferring the inspection expense closer to the time it is actually required.

In 2025, DCLI announced plans to deploy BlackBerry Radar across 100,000 DCL53 domestic 53-foot chassis to improve fleet visibility and operational efficiency. The company is committed to leveraging BlackBerry Radar's cloud-based software and portal to help teams understand equipment location, activity, and condition, and apply that information within day-to-day operating processes.
