Bitdeer Acquires 200 Acres Near Rockdale Facility in Texas
Bitdeer, a global leader in AI and Bitcoin mining infrastructure, has announced the acquisition of 200 acres of land in Milam County, Texas, near its existing 563 MW Rockdale facility. The acquisition, valued at approximately $100 million, will support the company’s strategy to develop AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure alongside its current operations.
The new parcel, known as the New Parcel, brings Bitdeer’s total land ownership in Milam County to approximately 255 acres, encompassing 742 MW of existing and planned power capacity. This expansion reflects Bitdeer’s commitment to growing its presence in Texas, leveraging the region’s robust energy infrastructure.
“Securing outright ownership of this land in Milam County is a strategic move that enhances our long-term operational control,” said Michael G. Potter, Chief Financial Officer of Bitdeer. “Rockdale is one of the best-connected locations in our portfolio, and we believe it is well positioned to receive additional power allocations over the coming years. This acquisition provides us with greater certainty and flexibility in our development plans.”
The newly acquired land is situated within 70 miles of Austin, Texas, and features an existing 563 MW interconnected grid capacity, with plans to scale to 742 MW. The site also benefits from a dedicated water supply. Bitdeer’s Rockdale facility is known for its large-load interconnection and established transmission infrastructure, making it an ideal location for further development.
“Owning this land gives us greater long-term certainty over our development plans, eliminates the risk associated with lease renewals, and provides flexibility to maintain our existing Bitcoin mining operations while we develop the newly acquired property,” Potter added.
With this acquisition, Bitdeer’s global site portfolio now includes approximately 3.0 GW of total power capacity across its facilities in the United States, Norway, Bhutan, Canada, Malaysia, and Ethiopia. The company plans to continue its expansion efforts, leveraging its strong financial position and strategic locations.
According to Potter, the new land acquisition is part of Bitdeer’s ongoing efforts to put the company in direct control of key sites that are critical to its growth. “This is a continuation of the progress we’ve been making across our platform to ensure Bitdeer has the infrastructure and control necessary to support our future development,” he stated.
Bitdeer’s commitment to providing comprehensive solutions for AI and Bitcoin mining, as well as building AI computational infrastructure, underscores its strategic vision. The company remains focused on innovation and efficiency, ensuring it can meet the demands of its customers and the growing AI market.
This acquisition is seen as a significant step for Bitdeer in its quest to become a leading provider of AI and HPC infrastructure. As the company continues to expand, it aims to leverage its strong operational and financial capabilities to drive growth and innovation in the tech sector.
