NEW YORK, Oct. 7, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Bill Warfield and the Hell's Kitchen Funk Orchestra have released a new single titled "The Fool on the Hill," which is set to debut on October 7, 2026. The single, the second from the album Eclecticism, features Jasia Ries on vocals and Cecilia Coleman on piano. The track is being highlighted on The Jazz Network Worldwide and The Not Just Jazz Network.
The single showcases a fresh take on the classic Lennon and McCartney composition, with Warfield's arrangement bringing a touch of the buoyant spirit of Sérgio Mendes's 1967 version. Warfield, the bandleader, trumpeter, and arranger, has built a musical life that spans hard bop, funk, soul, Latin music, Broadway, and the recording studio. A Baltimore native, he studied with arranger Hank Levy and trumpeter Lew Soloff and earned a master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music with a Maynard Ferguson Scholarship.
Warfield's career has included collaborations with renowned artists such as Bob Brookmeyer, Rayburn Wright, Ornette Coleman, David Liebman, Dave Stryker, Randy Brecker, and Gary Bartz. His work has been featured on albums such as New York City Jazz, The City Never Sleeps, Le Jazz Hot, For Lew, Time Capsule, and Chesapeake, where he has followed his curiosity wherever the music leads. Eclecticism continues that journey, with familiar songs becoming new conversations in the hands of Warfield and his orchestra.
"The Fool on the Hill" takes a more reflective turn, with Ries delivering a graceful, expressive vocal, followed by a thoughtful piano solo from Coleman. Warfield's arrangement carries subtle, good-natured political references for listeners who catch them. The orchestra's first single, "Love Potion #9," brought together Chrissi Poland's vocals, Dave Rickenberg's tenor saxophone, and Paul Shaffer's Hammond B3. This new release marks another side of the musical imagination that Warfield and the orchestra bring to their work.
Bill Warfield and the Hell's Kitchen Funk Orchestra have shared a special relationship with The Jazz Network Worldwide and The Not Just Jazz Network through the years.
