Beyoncé releases 20th anniversary edition of "B'DAY" with new tracks and visuals

Today marks the release of a monumental 20th anniversary edition of Beyoncé's seminal album, "B'DAY." Released on September 4, 2006, the original album introduced the world to a 25-year-old Beyoncé, a woman with a bold vision for her career as a singer, songwriter, producer, and visual artist. To commemorate the occasion, Beyoncé has remastered the album, added surprise new tracks, and included Spanish language songs, including collaborations with Colombian star Maluma and the late Selena.

On September 3, 2026, Beyoncé unveiled "B'DAY (20th Anniversary Edition)," which includes 31 tracks, including the original 23 songs and eight new tracks. The remastered version amplifies the album's innovative sound, which was characterized by its live instrumentation and blending of hip-hop and R&B elements. "I wanted the album to be big, percussive, hard, up-tempo, and energized," Beyoncé recalled. "I loved the minimalism of a beautiful vocal arrangement over a simple drum loop or a classic guitar, but only if that 808 was banging underneath."

The 20th anniversary edition also features new visual content, including remastered and re-colored videos. Notable among these is the "Déjà Vu" video, originally captured on 35mm film, now reimagined in 4K. Additionally, images shot on location in New Orleans, where Beyoncé's family has deep roots, have been included to celebrate the city's resilience and her contributions to its revitalization following Hurricane Katrina.

The album's 20th anniversary also brings two new Spanish language songs. "Cuerpo Tumbao (Get Me Bodied)," featuring Maluma, marks the first-time collaboration between the two artists. Maluma, a leading voice in Latin music, is one of Beyoncé's longtime admirers, and the song sample of Afro-Cuban star Celia Cruz’s "La Negra Tiene Tumbao" is a tribute to Cruz’s pride in her African heritage and her refusal to bend in the face of racism and narrow beauty standards. "Irreemplazable (Como La Flor)," a duet with the late Selena, is another highlight. Selena, known as the "Queen of Tejano Music," was a significant influence on Beyoncé, who credits her for inspiring the recording of "Irreemplazable" and her Spanish EP from 2007.

For music enthusiasts, the 20th anniversary edition offers multiple formats, including vinyl and CD, as well as a deluxe digital offering. The 4LP deluxe vinyl edition, pressed on 180G Bayou Blue Vinyl, features all the original songs, plus "Morning Dew (Donk)" and B-sides, along with a 60-page commemorative booklet and two collectible double-sided art prints. The standard vinyl edition is a limited 180G 2LP with new sequencing and features "Morning Dew (Donk)" and a 16-page collectible booklet.

The digital deluxe edition, available on various platforms, includes all tracks from the vinyl edition plus two bonus tracks, "Cuerpo Tumbao (featuring Maluma)" and "Irreemplazable (Como La Flor) featuring Selena." This comprehensive release ensures that fans can experience the magic of "B'DAY" in its full glory, celebrating 20 years of a coming-of-age masterpiece that continues to resonate with audiences around the world.
