Bertoia Auctions is set to host an exciting sale on October 9, featuring a diverse array of collectibles and advertising items from various popular collecting categories. The auction, which will take place at Bertoia’s gallery located at 2141 DeMarco Drive, Vineland, NJ, will begin at 10 AM Eastern Time.
Among the highlights of the auction is an impressive 1912 Ives fire hose reel, measuring 26 inches in length and in very good to excellent condition. This oversized piece, with its original figures, is estimated to fetch between $1,500 and $2,500.
Another notable item is a Wards Lemon-Crush syrup dispenser, an early ceramic soda fountain syrup dispenser molded in the form of an oversized lemon with a textured yellow surface. The dispenser, complete with its metal lid, is in excellent condition and is expected to bring between $800 and $1,600.
A tall porcelain advertising thermometer for Mail Pouch Tobacco, standing at 73½ inches tall, is another standout. It is in pristine to near-mint condition and is estimated to sell for between $1,500 and $2,500.

A rare Reed “Gem of the Ocean” toy riverboat, nearly 30 inches long, is also on offer. This large and delicate toy, in pristine condition, is expected to attract bidders for between $1,000 and $2,000.
Political memorabilia enthusiasts will be interested in Lot #28, an 1898 Pennsylvania Republican Party embossed tin lithographed campaign sign promoting gubernatorial candidate Colonel William A Stone and the party's statewide ticket. The sign, measuring 19½ inches by 28 inches, is in very good to excellent condition and is estimated to sell for between $1,000 and $1,500.
Other items up for bid include a White City barrel-on-cart still bank, manufactured by Nicol & Co Mfg, which is 5½ inches tall and in excellent to pristine condition. This piece is estimated to bring between $600 and $1,000.
A Luzianne Coffee and Chicory advertising sign, measuring 24 inches in diameter and in excellent condition, is expected to make between $400 and $800. The sign was manufactured by Wm B Reily & Co, New Orleans, and is copyrighted 1938.
A vertical Canadian Coca-Cola porcelain sign, showing the Sprite Boy character, is 54 inches tall by 18 inches wide and in excellent condition. This piece is estimated to sell for between $500 and $1,000.
The auction, which captures the bold graphics and nostalgic imagery of America’s past, will offer a colorful mix of antique advertising, country store items, and cast-iron collectibles. Highlights include early and graphic signs, Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola advertising, brewery trays and displays, clocks, tins, bottles, slot and amusement machines, and unusual store and countertop pieces.
