Berger Chevrolet, a family-owned dealership in Grand Rapids, Michigan, has played a crucial role in the ongoing Project REBORN, a custom vehicle build that will benefit The Brett Boyer Foundation. The foundation, founded by Ellen and Bo Boyer in memory of their daughter Sadie, focuses on raising awareness and funding for congenital heart disease research and support for families dealing with such conditions.
Project REBORN-001, a 1979 Chevrolet K30 crew cab being transformed into a modern, high-performance truck, has received a significant boost thanks to Berger Chevrolet. The dealership located and rushed one of the industry's few available new GMC Sierra 3500 frames, ensuring the build remains on schedule. This critical component will be integrated with the vintage exterior, preserving its classic appearance while incorporating modern amenities, performance, and reliability.
The truck's build is a collaborative effort between NFI Empire, a custom automotive company, and Berger Chevrolet. The new frame will be mated to the 1979 body, allowing the use of a contemporary Duramax diesel drivetrain, suspension, and technology upgrades. The entire vehicle is being overhauled from sheet metal through a hand-stitched leather interior, ensuring a seamless blend of old and new.
Justin Fried, CEO of Newport Gold, Inc., and NFI Empire, emphasized the importance of securing the new frame.
The Brett Boyer Foundation, based in Nashville, Tennessee, was established in 2017 to honor Sadie Brett Boyer, who was diagnosed with Down syndrome and a congenital heart defect. The foundation has made significant strides in advancing treatment options and supporting families navigating CHD diagnoses. With 50% of babies born with Down syndrome fighting CHD, the foundation's work is crucial in improving outcomes for affected children.
Berger Chevrolet, known for its high-performance heritage and exceptional customer service, has been a long-standing supporter of the community. Founded by William H. Berger II in 1925, the dealership now spans five generations and continues to serve West Michigan with a commitment to quality and community involvement.
Project REBORN-001 is set to be auctioned at The Red Bird Games in Brentwood, Tennessee, with proceeds benefiting The Brett Boyer Foundation.
