Benchmarkia, a joint venture between Sustrio Advisors and Incorrys Inc., has released a comprehensive ranking of the ten largest Canadian airports based on their performance and sustainability. The analysis, which was conducted using a combination of performance metrics and sustainability parameters, highlights the ongoing commitment of Canadian airports to both operational efficiency and environmental responsibility.

The benchmarking process evaluated a range of performance indicators, including the number of passengers, airport area, number of departing flights, number of terminals, and cargo volume. Additionally, sustainability metrics such as greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, water usage, noise control measures, community investment, and alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were considered. Combined, performance metrics carried an 85% weight, while sustainability metrics accounted for 15% of the overall score.

Hans Luu, a Partner and Principal Advisor at Sustrio Advisors, emphasized the significance of sustainability in the Canadian aviation sector. "This was reflected in our ranking."

The results of the benchmarking are available on the Benchmarkia website, providing a detailed overview of each airport's performance and sustainability efforts. The ranking is designed to offer valuable insights for stakeholders, including airport operators, policymakers, and the general public, who can use the information to inform decisions and promote best practices in the industry.

Benchmarkia's analysis underscores the growing importance of sustainability in the aviation sector, reflecting a broader trend towards environmentally conscious operations across the globe. As airports continue to balance operational efficiency with environmental stewardship, the findings from this study will serve as a benchmark for future performance and sustainability initiatives.
