TORONTO, Sept. 28, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Base Carbon Inc., a company focused on carbon markets, has announced that Verra, a carbon credit registry, has completed the CORSIA-eligible tagging of 639,609 previously issued carbon credits from its Rwanda cookstoves project. This tagging brings the total number of CORSIA-eligible carbon credits issued to date from the project to 1,959,812.

The tagging process, which utilized the current VM0050 cookstove methodology, is a significant milestone for the project. Going forward, the project is expected to generate approximately 2.6 million additional carbon credits on a regular 6-month interval during the remainder of its crediting period. The company anticipates that all of these further credits will also become CORSIA-eligible.

Michael Costa, the Chief Executive Officer of Base Carbon, expressed satisfaction with the progress.

The project, which involves the distribution of cookstoves in Rwanda, aims to reduce deforestation and associated carbon emissions. The cookstoves are designed to be more efficient, thereby reducing the need for excessive firewood and decreasing the amount of wood that needs to be cut. This, in turn, helps to mitigate deforestation and the associated carbon emissions.

Base Carbon Inc. is actively engaged in multiple carbon credit sale processes and remains focused on maximizing the value of its carbon credits. The company's efforts are part of a broader strategy to ensure that its projects not only generate carbon credits but also contribute to sustainable development goals.

In a recent statement, the company highlighted that the project is expected to continue generating carbon credits on a regular basis. The company is optimistic about the future of the project and its ability to meet the growing demand for CORSIA-eligible carbon credits in the aviation sector.

The company's focus on the Rwanda cookstoves project is part of a larger strategy to develop and manage carbon removal and reduction projects globally. Base Carbon Inc. aims to be the preferred carbon project partner, providing capital and management resources to projects that contribute to global carbon markets.

As of the company's quarter ended June 30, 2026, the project has made significant progress, with the completion of the CORSIA-eligible tagging of a substantial number of carbon credits. The company is confident that the project will continue to generate additional credits, all of which are expected to be eligible for the CORSIA framework.

The project's success is attributed to the company's use of industry-leading experts and consultants, as well as the consistent performance of the cookstoves and the active participation of the households that use them. The company is also optimistic about the market recognition of its carbon credits and their acceptance by emissions trading schemes and compliance programs such as CORSIA.

Overall, the tagging of the carbon credits and the anticipated future generation of additional credits represent a significant step forward for Base Carbon Inc. and its Rwanda cookstoves project. The company remains committed to its mission of contributing to global carbon markets and sustainable development goals.
