IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 01, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Balt, a company that has been working with interventional physicians to develop devices for treating complex neurovascular diseases since 1977, has announced the enrollment of the first patients in North America in a pivotal clinical trial. This trial, named PIONEER, will assess the role of the Silk Vista Baby flow diverter in treating unruptured intracranial aneurysms in distal small arteries in the brain.

The Silk Vista Baby is the first flow diverter to deliver through a small 0.017-inch diameter microcatheter, a significant advancement in the treatment of aneurysms that arise off very small blood vessels. This device, which obtained European Union regulatory approval in 2018, has been used to treat thousands of aneurysm patients worldwide and has been the subject of several clinical studies.

The PIONEER study is the first prospective trial exclusively assessing the role of flow diversion in treating aneurysms in distal small arteries in the brain. It is actively enrolling patients at hospitals in both the U.S. and Canada and is the U.S. approval study for the Silk Vista Baby flow diverter.

Balt, established in 1977, has been at the forefront of developing devices to treat complex life-threatening neurovascular diseases such as ischemic strokes, aneurysms, and other hemorrhagic conditions including arteriovenous malformations, dural arteriovenous fistulas, and chronic subdural hematomas. The company's commitment to innovation and patient care is evident in the development of the Silk Vista Baby, which is poised to change the landscape of neurovascular treatment.
