BOSTON, Oct. 20, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- AVEO Oncology, an LG Chem company, has announced that an abstract for a poster presentation on rilogrotug, a humanized IgG1 anti-GDF-15 monoclonal antibody (NCT05865535), has been accepted for the 2026 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress in Madrid, Spain, taking place from October 23-27. The poster will summarize results from a Phase 1b study that evaluated the safety and tolerability of rilogrotug. According to Mike Ferraresso, President and Chief Executive Officer of AVEO Oncology, the study also observed improvements in weight gain, skeleton muscle area, and appetite.
AVEO Oncology, an LG Chem company, is an oncology-focused biopharmaceutical firm committed to delivering medicines that provide a better life for patients with cancer. The company currently markets FOTIVDA® (tivozanib) in the U.S. for the treatment of adult patients with relapsed or refractory advanced renal cell carcinoma (RCC) following two or more prior systemic therapies. AVEO and its strategic partners continue to develop FOTIVDA in other novel targeted combinations in RCC. The company also has investigational programs in other areas of high unmet need, including ficlatuzumab in HPV-negative refractory head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and rilogrotug (also known as AV-380) in cancer cachexia.
Rilogrotug, an investigational humanized IgG1 antibody that targets growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF-15), is designed to address the issue of cachexia in patients with cancer. The amount of GDF-15 that circulates in the body increases in response to stress, and at these higher levels, GDF-15 has been associated with cachexia in patients with cancer. The poster presentation at ESMO 2026 will provide an update on the ongoing research and development of rilogrotug, highlighting its potential as a novel therapeutic approach for managing cancer cachexia.
The poster presentation at ESMO 2026 is a significant milestone for AVEO Oncology, as it marks the company's continued commitment to advancing treatments for cancer patients, particularly those suffering from cachexia. The results from the Phase 1b study are encouraging, and the company is optimistic about the potential of rilogrotug to improve the lives of patients with cancer.
