Avelo Airlines Expands with New Florida Destinations from DTX

MCKINNEY, Texas, Oct. 15, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Avelo Airlines, the Dallas-based carrier that launched as America's first new commercial scheduled airline in nearly 15 years, is expanding its network with two new Florida destinations from McKinney National Airport (DTX). Starting December 16, Avelo will offer nonstop flights from DTX to Sarasota/Bradenton (SRQ), followed by West Palm Beach (DJT) on December 17. This expansion brings the airline's DTX network to 11 destinations.

The addition of these routes is part of Avelo's strategy to meet strong demand for travel to Florida during the holiday season. The airline is also increasing its flights to Las Vegas, adding two weekly flights to bring the total to six per week. These new flights will operate on Wednesday and Saturday, joining the existing Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday services.

Since taking flight on April 28, 2021, Avelo has served more than 10.5 million customers on over 81,000 flights. The airline currently operates 39 destinations across 17 states and Puerto Rico, including Aguadilla and San Juan. Avelo's network is expected to grow further with the introduction of the Embraer E195-E2, a new mainline jet aircraft with 140 seats in a 2x2 configuration. Avelo placed an order for up to 100 Embraer E195-E2s in September 2025, marking a significant step in its expansion plans.

The expansion of Avelo's operations at DTX will also create about 150 jobs, including positions for pilots, flight attendants, aircraft technicians, and airport personnel. The airline will open its McKinney base on November 11, 2026, with three Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft based at the airport.
