The company, founded in Fort Wayne in 1951 and run by three generations of the Byers family, has chosen this location to mark a substantial investment in equipment, systems, and capacity. The new facility, which will be introduced to customers, employees, vendors, and community supporters on September 24, is part of a broader strategy to enhance service and support for its growing customer base.

The new facility, built to a standard few distributors in the category can offer, houses a large mixing and color match operation, dedicated training space, and equipment and systems new to the company. According to Byers, the facility and related investments are expected to improve order accuracy, shorten fulfillment cycles, and create a safer working environment. The building was deliberately sized with capacity for continued growth, as the company plans to add to its local workforce.
This investment follows a period of steady expansion. In recent years, ACS has completed several acquisitions, including Paint Works in 2024, Smetzer Paint & Supply in 2025, and Ohio Paint Supply in 2026. The company looks to partner with businesses and founders who share its view on a "customer first" experience and who look to preserve the cultures and local legacies those companies. ACS now serves customers across Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana, with its headquarters remaining in Fort Wayne.
Byers noted that the Fort Wayne investment reflects a deliberate contrast with the direction of the broader market.
The company expects continued growth in the paint, body/equipment, and industrial markets, including additional locations and a wider geographic reach.
