Ascom, a Swiss company, has secured a major framework agreement with Helse Sør-Øst (HSØ), Norway’s largest regional health authority, as part of a large-scale modernization initiative in Norwegian hospitals. The agreement, valued at CHF 80 million over seven years, will cover the upgrade of existing hospitals and the construction of new facilities. This partnership is expected to enhance patient care, streamline hospital operations, and improve working conditions for medical staff.

HSØ, owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services, serves more than 57% of the country’s population through its 30 hospitals and 70 locations. Ascom’s framework agreement with HSØ will enable the deployment of advanced clinical communication solutions, focusing on improving patient safety and accelerating response times. These solutions will include integrated nurse call, critical alarm, and personal safety systems, designed to integrate seamlessly with existing clinical and technical infrastructures.

Ascom’s long-standing relationship with HSØ and its strong local presence positions it well to support the health authority through all stages of the contract, from planning to delivery. The framework agreement will allow Ascom to expand its installed base and increase recurring revenue from software, services, maintenance, and upgrades. Ascom is also well-positioned to participate in future modernization phases through tendering.

In 2026, Ascom further solidified its position by securing contracts for the major hospital developments at the new Aker Hospital and the new Rikshospitalet in Oslo. Ascom was awarded contracts for both patient signal and staff safety solutions at both hospitals, highlighting its trusted partnership in critical healthcare infrastructure. Project execution for these developments commenced in the second quarter of 2026.

According to David Hale, CEO of Ascom, "This agreement reflects a clear market trend towards standardized platforms and selecting reliable partners with long-term delivery strengths. Ascom is well-positioned to support this change and expand our footprint in the Norwegian healthcare sector. Our partnership with HSØ and the project award for Aker Hospital underscore the trust placed in Ascom and the customer advantage of an integrated approach to clinical communication and safety solutions."

The framework agreement and the subsequent project awards highlight Ascom’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure in Norway. Ascom’s solutions are expected to enhance the overall operational efficiency and safety of Norwegian hospitals, ultimately benefiting both patients and medical staff.
