Armenia's Wealth Management Industry Evolves with New Generation

YEREVAN, Armenia, Sept. 25, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Thirty-five years after gaining independence, Armenia is witnessing a significant shift in its business landscape. The first generation of entrepreneurs, who built their wealth through operating businesses, is now facing the challenges of exits and succession. This transition is driving a new era of wealth management, with a focus on institutional management and technology-driven solutions.
According to Irina Belysheva, CEO of Wilco Wealth Management, the traditional model of wealth accumulation in Armenia has evolved. For decades, profits were either reinvested in company growth or kept in classic bank deposits. However, this model is giving way to a more sophisticated approach, where wealth is treated as an independent asset class.
Belysheva, speaking to Armenpress, the country's official news agency, highlighted the advantages of Armenia's relatively young wealth management industry. Unlike mature financial centers, Armenia can be shaped without the burden of entrenched legacy systems, making it more agile and technology-enabled. The compact market also facilitates an open, professional dialogue between regulators and industry players, allowing for swift adaptation and continuous refinement of legislation.
The country's growing role as a connector between Europe, the Middle East, and Asia is another factor driving its attractiveness as a jurisdiction for capital. As Armenia integrates into transport corridors such as the North-South route and regional initiatives like the TRIPP project, it is becoming an increasingly important node in global trade networks. This strategic position is making Armenia an attractive destination for international investors seeking diversification.
Belysheva also emphasized the changing dynamics within the Armenian diaspora. Younger generations are increasingly viewing Armenia as an investment opportunity, guided by a desire for "market return plus real impact." These investors are willing to commit capital when they see promising opportunities, transparent corporate governance, and robust protection of their rights.
However, Armenia's financial sector still faces challenges. While the banking sector is liquid and well-capitalized, with assets reaching roughly 112% of GDP, the local stock and corporate bond markets remain small. The Government's 2026-2031 Program specifically prioritizes the development of capital markets, aiming to address this gap.
For Belysheva, the key test for the next decade is helping businesses lengthen their planning horizons, ensuring that long-term capital stays within the domestic economy. Wilco Wealth Management, regulated by the Central Bank of Armenia, plays a crucial role in this transition. As a "reliable co-pilot" for Armenian founders and families, Wilco connects Armenian capital with global markets and facilitates the entry of foreign and diaspora capital into Armenia.
