BOSTON, Sept. 17, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Ara Partners, a global private markets firm dedicated to decarbonizing the industrial economy, has acquired a majority stake in Bryden Wood, a leading international integrated design and engineering consultancy. The acquisition aims to support Bryden Wood's continued growth and expand its services across the industrial economy, leveraging Ara's portfolio of decarbonization projects.
Bryden Wood, headquartered in London, employs 300 professionals across four offices in Europe. The firm specializes in solving complex design problems for major companies in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, low-carbon industries, and data centers. By combining strategic thinking with deep delivery expertise, Bryden Wood has developed a unique approach that transforms complex requirements into repeatable, configurable solutions. This approach includes the use of reference designs, standardized systems, and off-site manufacturing, which accelerates project delivery and reduces capital costs.
The partnership between Ara Partners and Bryden Wood is based on a multi-year relationship. Ara has already benefited from Bryden Wood's expertise in the design evolution and capital strategy for several of its portfolio projects, including Sedron, Divert, Utility Global, BioVeritas, and GIDARA Energy. Ara's co-founder, Charles Cherington, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, stating, "Bryden Wood has been central to our ability to scale low-carbon process technology and deliver projects on time and on budget. This partnership allows us to deepen that capability within our portfolio and deliver that value to the broader industrial economy."
Martin Wood, co-founder of Bryden Wood, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, "Investment in decarbonization, data centers, and advanced manufacturing is accelerating. The challenge is designing the pathway from promising technologies to physical assets that are investable, buildable, and repeatable. This partnership with Ara gives us the opportunity to apply our approach at greater scale and make a bigger impact."
The acquisition solidifies Ara Partners' commitment to decarbonizing the industrial economy. Founded in 2017, Ara Partners invests in the middle market across three strategies: private equity, infrastructure, and energy. The firm focuses on scaling commercially demonstrated decarbonization solutions and supporting the businesses and infrastructure that enable their adoption. As of March 31, 2026, Ara Partners had approximately $8.2 billion in assets under management.
Bryden Wood's approach to design and engineering is expected to enhance Ara Partners' portfolio and contribute to the broader industrial economy's decarbonization efforts. The combined expertise of both firms will likely drive innovation and accelerate the implementation of sustainable solutions across various industries.
