WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, October 23, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- The Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management (APPAM) has named the inaugural editorial team for its new Journal of Policy Implementation & Evaluation (JPIE), marking a significant step toward the journal’s launch in summer 2027. The journal aims to publish short-form, peer-reviewed research that brings rigorous evidence to policy conversations when they are needed most.
The editorial team, comprising six leading scholars from prominent schools of public policy and public affairs, will guide the journal’s direction. Seth Freedman and Coady Wing from the Indiana University O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, Tony LoSasso from the University of Wisconsin, Madison La Follette School of Public Affairs, Katherine Michelmore from the University of Michigan Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, Travis St. Clair from the New York University Wagner School of Public Service, and Katie Vinopal from The Ohio State University John Glenn College of Public Affairs, bring a wealth of expertise to the table.
JPIE will focus on policy design, implementation, and evaluation, offering timely, actionable insights into pressing public problems. The journal will publish quarterly issues under a hybrid model that includes both subscription-based and open-access articles. The goal is to make research accessible and useful to APPAM members, the broader implementation and evaluation communities, policymakers, and practitioners.
The journal’s mission is to bridge the gap between research and practice by providing shorter articles and clear summaries of policy implications. This approach ensures that the research is not only rigorous but also relevant and actionable. JPIE aims to offer timely insights that can inform policy decisions and implementation strategies.
Published online by Sage, JPIE will release its first issues in the summer of 2027, aligning with APPAM’s commitment to advancing research that makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives. The journal will play a crucial role in fostering evidence-based policy making and evaluation, contributing to the broader field of public policy analysis and management.
