London-based venture capital firm AP Ventures has closed its third fund, a USD 300 million investment vehicle dedicated to supporting early-stage companies that are strengthening industrial productivity, supply security, and the resilience of energy systems. The fund, which comes as demand accelerates for high-performing infrastructure across energy and industry, invests in companies that are developing technologies to address pressing challenges in these sectors.
The fund's portfolio includes 13 companies that are working on a range of technical approaches to bolster the resilience and efficiency of industrial and energy systems. These companies are tackling issues such as improving energy efficiency, resource productivity, safety, environmental performance, and supply-chain resilience.
One of these companies is Teragen Energy, which has developed metal-supported solid oxide fuel cells that can provide clean, on-site power for data centers and other critical infrastructure. Another is Aether Fuels, which converts industrial waste gases, biogas, and waste biomass into drop-in liquid fuels, giving aviation and shipping a new, locally sourced fuel supply.
CREW Carbon, whose mineral-based process replaces conventional wastewater treatment chemicals, is another company in the portfolio. It cuts operating costs and supply-chain exposure for water utilities while generating high-quality carbon removal credits. Rosy Soil, which sells patented, peat-free potting soils from biochar, replacing a finite, increasingly restricted raw material while improving plant health and sequestering carbon, is also part of the portfolio. Reclinker, which harnesses the Electric Arc Furnace process used in steel production and recycling to convert used cement into on-specification Ordinary Portland Cement, is another company that is part of the fund's portfolio.
