Antigua and Barbuda has been recognized as the seventh-best island in the Caribbean and the Atlantic, according to Condé Nast Traveler’s 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards. Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards, known for their long-standing legacy and prestige, serve as a benchmark for travel excellence. This recognition underscores the rich tapestry of experiences that Antigua and Barbuda offers, from its renowned beaches and sailing heritage to its vibrant culture and culinary delights.
Colin C. James, CEO of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, expressed delight at the recognition.
Antigua, the larger of the two islands, combines its famous beaches with world-class sailing, vibrant culinary experiences, historic sites, and a dynamic calendar of events. The island is home to Nelson’s Dockyard, the only continuously working Georgian era dockyard in the world, and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Antigua’s tourism events calendar includes the Antigua Racing Cup, Antigua Sailing Week, Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta, Antigua and Barbuda Culinary Month, the annual Antigua Carnival, and Antigua and Barbuda Art Week.
Barbuda, Antigua’s smaller sister island, is known for its untouched 11-mile stretch of pink sand beaches and as the home of the largest Frigate Bird Sanctuary in the Western Hemisphere. The island lies 27 miles northeast of Antigua and is just a 15-minute plane ride away. Barbuda offers a tranquil escape defined by pristine landscapes and extraordinary natural beauty.

The twin-island nation, located in the heart of the Caribbean Sea, offers visitors two uniquely distinct experiences, ideal temperatures year-round, a rich history, vibrant culture, exhilarating excursions, award-winning resorts, mouth-watering cuisine, and 365 stunning pink and white-sand beaches, one for every day of the year.
