Angkor Resources Discovers Significant Copper Mineralization in Cambodia

GRANDE PRAIRIE, ALBERTA (September 1, 2026), Angkor Resources Corp., a publicly traded company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange and the OTCQB, has announced the discovery of significant copper mineralization in the 2026 drill core from the Andong Bor mineral exploration license in Cambodia. The findings come from the first phase of the 2026 drilling program at the Thmei North (TN) target, a site defined by a copper-in-auger-soil anomaly in relatively flat farmland.
The company’s exploration team, led by Dennis Ouellette, Vice President of Exploration, reported that the best copper mineralization observed is hosted within metasedimentary rocks. The mineralization was visually significant, with chalcopyrite found occupying fractures in these rocks, and as 'B' and 'D' veins in feldspar porphyry intrusive rocks. According to Ouellette, "The best copper mineralization in this core is clearly hosted by the metasedimentary rocks. The intrusive rocks can host porphyry style mineralization, but the assays to date are mostly at or below 2,000 ppm copper."
The drilling aimed to better intersect the north-south trending, steeply dipping bands of intrusive dikes and highly reactive metasedimentary rock. Hole AB26-012D, located approximately 150 meters further east of previous drilling and within the larger copper-in-auger-soil anomaly, showed pyrite-dominant mineralization for the first 200 meters from the surface, potentially indicating the presence of gold. Ouellette elaborated, "There is very little copper in this hole, but there is a significant amount of pyrite, which descriptively resembles other gold targets in the Loei Fold Belt. The assays will tell us more."
Structural analysis revealed that the contacts between the intrusive rock and the host sedimentary rock are very steep, ranging from 70 to 80 degrees. This suggests significant ground preparation prior to the intrusion and subsequent mineralization. Ouellette noted, "This is the first time we've been able to reveal the structural relationship between the intrusive rock and the host sedimentary rock, which is crucial for understanding the geology and potential mineralization."
Angkor Resources is currently splitting the 2026 drill core at its core facility for analysis at ALS in Phnom Penh. The company plans to continue its exploration efforts, focusing on defining the boundaries of the copper mineralization at both Thmei North and Thmei South. Thmei South, located roughly three kilometers to the south of Thmei North, remains largely unexplored and requires further auger soil geochemistry to extend the existing copper geochemical anomaly.
Ouellette concluded, "The drilling results from 2026 have provided valuable insights into the geology and potential mineralization at Andong Bor. The next phase of exploration will continue to build on these findings and further delineate the mineralization."
As of the 2026 drill program, Angkor Resources holds two mineral exploration licenses in Cambodia, with multiple prospects for copper and gold, and is also advancing oil and gas exploration activities under Block VIII in southwest Cambodia.
