WAXAHACHIE, CO, UNITED STATES, October 12, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Americase International, a company that specializes in battery transport and storage solutions, is convening a panel discussion at The Battery Show North America in Detroit, Michigan, on October 14, 2026.
Lithium battery energy density has seen a significant increase, rising more than eightfold between 2008 and 2020, from 55 to 450 watt-hours per liter. This growth in energy density, coupled with the increasing deployment of lithium-ion batteries in various applications such as electric vehicles, stationary storage, and industrial settings, has raised the stakes for ensuring the safety of these batteries. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the average battery in a U.S. battery electric car held about 90 kilowatt-hours of energy in 2025, highlighting the growing reliance on these powerful energy sources.
The panel discussion, moderated by John Redman, Chief Operating Officer of Americase International, will bring together experts from General Motors, Power-Metric, and the Energy Security Agency, among others. The session will explore the challenges and solutions related to thermal runaway events, a critical safety issue in lithium-ion batteries. Thermal runaway, a chain reaction that can lead to a battery fire, poses significant risks to both the environment and human safety.
"Compliant is not necessarily contained," Redman noted.
The panel will cover thermal runaway behavior across different chemistries and formats, the materials science behind effective transport and storage design, and the intersection of containment engineering, regulatory compliance, and emergency response. The discussion will also delve into the future direction of containment standards and best practices.
Americase International will showcase its battery transport and storage solutions at Booth 3508 throughout the four-day event, which runs from October 12 to 15. The company, which has manufactured protective cases since 1985, integrates containment engineering, dangerous goods regulatory strategy, and safety and performance validation to protect valuable and hazardous materials.
The session, part of the show’s Battery Chemistry, Materials & Cell Innovation track and Battery Safety theme, will take place from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time at Huntington Place, 1 Washington Blvd., Detroit, Michigan.
