Americans prefer trusted financial advisors over Bitcoin's 'digital gold' narrative

Palm Beach Gardens, FL, According to a national study from the Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI), everyday Americans are more inclined towards control, proven results, and trusted financial advisors than the long-standing "digital gold" narrative associated with Bitcoin, Digital Asset Investment Management (DAiM) has announced.

The BPI research, conducted through polling firm Cygnal and in collaboration with Neighborhood Bitcoin, involved U.S. registered voters and focus groups. The findings revealed that the phrase "digital gold" was confusing to participants and ranked among the bottom themes. Themes that resonated more strongly included control, proven performance, security, and ease of access. Among trusted sources, a financial advisor with whom the respondent had worked personally was ranked first (33%), surpassing retirement experts and Bitcoin-owning friends or family. Celebrities and influencers ranked last.

Following exposure to the tested messages, interest in owning Bitcoin shifted by approximately 12 points, indicating a slight increase in interest. Bryan Courchesne, CEO of DAiM, emphasized that the industry takeaway is clear: "Make the messenger the product, a fiduciary, not an exchange, influencer, or abstract Bitcoin thesis."

Courchesne explained, "People are not asking for a slogan. They are asking who is accountable if they put money to work and how they are protected. That is a fiduciary conversation. Bitcoin as 'freedom money', wealth you can own and size yourself, and pass down to generations, lands. So does the record that every four-year hold has ended higher. What does not land is asking someone to buy a metaphor from a stranger on an app."

The study highlighted two key messages that align directly with advisory practice. Control language such as "we help you decide how much" outperformed all-in narratives. Performance language emphasizing that holders who stayed invested through four-year periods came out ahead, without exception, was among the strongest "safety" themes. Combined with the concept of "freedom money" (money no bank or government can freeze, inflate, or seize), the research points to a portfolio decision delivered by a known adviser, not a cultural campaign.

DAiM, an SEC-registered investment adviser dedicated to digital assets since 2018 (CRD #294098), manages digital-asset and blended wealth strategies through regulated, third-party custody for individuals, families, and institutions. The firm also supports other advisers through sub-advisory services. DAiM emphasizes three key points in client and partner communications: helping clients choose the right allocation, not requiring a full commitment to Bitcoin, and focusing on multi-year holding periods as the framework for risk and results.

The BPI study did not measure actual purchases or evaluate DAiM's performance but rather measured which messages and messengers moved stated interest among persuadable non-owners.
