FAIRFIELD, N.J., Oct. 1, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- American Liver Foundation (ALF) is raising awareness about liver health and liver cancer during National Liver Awareness Month and Liver Cancer Month in October. The organization is encouraging the public to take its one-minute liver health quiz, try its 30-day Liver Healthy Meal Plan, and advocate for legislation that can improve the lives of those affected by liver disease.

According to ALF, an estimated 80 to 100 million Americans have liver disease, but many are unaware of their condition due to subtle early symptoms. The foundation is offering a simple liver health quiz available in English at thinkliverthinklife.org/quiz and in Spanish at thinkliverthinklife.org/prueba. The quiz helps individuals understand their risk for liver disease and liver cancer, with a particular focus on hepatocellular carcinoma, which has seen incidence rates more than triple since 1980 and death rates double during the same period.

ALF is also promoting its 30-day Liver Healthy Meal Plan, which includes easy-to-make recipes and 20 new recipe videos. The plan is designed to help people take care of their liver through dietary choices. Anyone can participate in the meal plan, and the recipes do not require complex ingredients.

Throughout October, ALF is advocating for legislation that can improve the lives of people affected by liver disease. The organization is asking the liver community to send messages to Members of Congress and support policies that can advance early detection, improve access to treatment, and increase investment in liver disease research.

ALF offers free educational and community events throughout the month. On October 14, the organization will host a virtual workshop on hepatorenal syndrome (HRS) awareness. On October 16 and 17, ALF will host a two-day MASH Empower & Educate Summit aimed at empowering patients and caregivers through education, storytelling, and media training. The summit seeks to amplify patient voices and raise national awareness of liver disease.

ALF also provides free support services for caregivers, patients, and transplant recipients. Participants must be 18 years or older to join. The organization offers online support groups, including Sharing the Journey, a support network for caregivers, patients, and transplant recipients. ALF will host a 50th Anniversary National Legacy Gala on October 28th at 6:50 PM ET, celebrating the achievements of distinguished leaders and visionaries who have made significant contributions in the liver community.
